Tape, clip or glue: how a hair patch is fitted (and how to choose)

Oct 19, 2026

Short answer: A hair patch can be fitted with tape, clips or glue. Clips suit people who want to take the patch off every day. Tape gives a secure, close fit for daily wear and is easy to refit. Glue gives the longest hold between visits. At Bunty's Hair & Skin Studio, Old Padra Road, Gajanand Complex, Vadodara, tape and clip fitting are free. Only glue fitting is charged. We help you choose based on your hair, your routine and how often you can visit.

Why the fitting method matters

How a patch is fitted affects how it feels, how secure it is, and how often you need a refit, as much as the patch itself does. Two people can wear the same type of custom patch and need completely different fittings. One may want to remove it every night. The other may want to forget about it for weeks. Choosing the method is part of every consultation at our studio.

Clip fitting

What it is: Small clips sewn onto the base of the patch grip your own hair around the bald or thin area.

Who it suits:

Things to know: Clips need some surrounding hair, so they are not always possible for a fully bald area. Because the patch comes off daily, you take care of washing and storing it yourself. We show you how at the fitting.

Tape fitting

What it is: Thin, double-sided tape strips hold the patch base to the scalp.

Who it suits:

Things to know: Tape holds well, but it is not permanent. Sweat, oil and your routine all affect how long it lasts between refits. We explain a sensible refit schedule for you at the fitting. If your skin is sensitive, tell us at the consultation so we can discuss it.

Glue fitting

What it is: A hair-system adhesive bonds the base to the scalp.

Who it suits:

Things to know: Glue fitting is the one fitting we charge for, because it takes more time and material. Removal and refitting should be done properly at the studio, not pulled off at home. As with tape, tell us first if your skin is sensitive.

How we decide together

At the consultation we look at:

  1. Where the hair loss is: front hairline, crown or a larger area.
  2. How much of your own hair is around it: this decides whether clips will work.
  3. Your routine: work, travel, gym, sports, weather.
  4. How often you can visit: refits are easier for clients who live close to Old Padra Road. Clients coming from Anand, Nadiad, Bharuch or Halol may prefer a method that needs fewer visits.
  5. Your comfort: some people want the option to take it off at night.

Many clients start with clips or tape and change methods later. That is normal.
