Clip-in extensions are wefts you put in and take out yourself, which suits weddings, functions and weekends. Micro ring extensions
How they work
Small strands of extension hair are attached to small sections of your own hair using tiny rings, without heat or glue. As your hair grows, the rings move down, so at refit visits we move them back up.
Who they suit

- People who don't want to put hair in and take it out each morning
- Those happy to come in for regular refit visits
Good to know
- They stay in while you sleep, wash and go about your day. You care for them as part of your hair.
- Refits are part of the routine. We set the timing with you.
- They need enough of your own hair to attach to. We check this at the consultation.
Clip-in extensions
How they work
Wefts of hair with small clips sewn on. You clip them into your own hair in a few minutes and take them out at the end of the day.

- People who want extra length only on some days
- First-timers who want to try extensions before committing

- You control when you wear them. Nothing stays in overnight.
- You wash and store them yourself. We show you how.
- Getting the clips placed neatly takes a little practice. We teach you at the studio.

How to choose: four questions
- How often do you want the extra hair? Every day points to micro ring. Only sometimes points to clip-in.
- How much time do you want to spend each morning? If none, micro ring.
- Can you visit for refits? If visiting regularly is hard, clip-ins may be easier.
- How fine is your own hair? Very fine or delicate hair needs careful planning for either method. We check this in person.
Many clients use both: micro rings for everyday fullness, plus a clip-in set for big occasions.
Custom or ready-made?
Both methods can use custom-matched or ready-made hair. Custom gives the closest colour and texture match. Ready-made is quicker when the shade is close to yours. Our post on custom vs ready-made extensions explains the trade-off.
Getting the blend right
Extensions look natural only when they blend. At the studio we:
- Match the colour, including the lighter and darker tones in your own hair
- Match the texture: straight, wavy or curly
- Plan the placement so rings or clips sit hidden
- Cut and style the extensions into your own hair so the ends don't look blunt
Caring for your extensions
- Brush gently from the ends upwards with a soft or loop brush
- Use mild shampoo and conditioner, keeping heavy products away from the rings
- Dry fully before sleeping. Loosely braid long hair at night.
- Keep heat styling low
- Store clip-ins flat or hung, away from dust and sun
